I was born on Marine Corps Base 29 Palms in Southern California. We moved to my father's home town of Walnut Cove, N.C. when I was four years old. I lived there until I graduated high school and joined the United States Navy as a Corpsman. I went to basic training in Great Lakes IL., and then from there went to a Marine Unit on the base at Camp Lejeune, N.C. I spent four and a half years there, and completed two tours of combat with 1st Battalion, 8th Marine Regiment. During my second deployment we were involved in the biggest battle of the Iraq War, Operation Phantom Fury.
I left the service due to PTSD and am now considered a disabled veteran. I started making art as a way to deal with my disorder and found that I love it, and that it is also great therapy.
I now am a full time artist, and I am totally self taught. I like to work in water colors and acrylics doing folk art and fine art. I now reside in Gainesville, Ga and go by the name, The Crafty Cowboy
